About LA Memorial Coliseum

The LA Memorial Coliseum is the only stadium in the world to have hosted the Olympic Games twice — in 1932 and 1984 — and it will host a third time in 2028, making it the most storied Olympic venue in American history. Built in 1923 as a memorial to veterans of World War I, the Coliseum sits in Exposition Park in South Los Angeles, surrounded by the Natural History Museum, the California Science Center (home of Space Shuttle Endeavour), and the University of Southern California campus.

The stadium underwent a major renovation completed in 2019, bringing it up to modern standards while preserving its iconic peristyle end and Olympic torch cauldron. Today it serves as the home of the USC Trojans and previously hosted the Los Angeles Rams before their move to SoFi Stadium. For LA28, it will be the primary venue for Athletics — Track events and will co-host the Opening Ceremony alongside SoFi Stadium.

The neighborhood around the Coliseum has transformed significantly in recent years, with Exposition Park itself expanding its museum footprint and the Metro E Line (Expo) providing direct rail access from Santa Monica to Downtown LA through the area.

Getting here: The Metro E Line (Expo) stops at Expo Park/USC Station, a short walk from the Coliseum gates. The Metro 40 and 42 bus lines also serve the area directly. If driving, Exposition Park lots fill quickly on event days — arrive early or use park-and-ride options at nearby Metro stations.

Transit & Parking

Public transit options

Metro E Line (Expo) — Expo Park/USC Station puts you at the Coliseum's front door. The E Line runs from Santa Monica through Culver City and across DTLA to East LA, making it one of the most useful lines for fans staying anywhere along the Westside or Downtown corridor.

Metro Buses — Lines 40 and 42 serve Exposition Park directly. The DASH Pico-Union/Echo Park route also connects from Downtown.

Olympics traffic disclaimer: All transit estimates are based on pre-Games conditions. Actual travel times during the 2028 Games will vary significantly due to road closures, Olympic lane restrictions, and elevated demand. Build in extra buffer — especially for Opening Ceremony nights when both this venue and SoFi Stadium will be operating simultaneously.
