About Rose Bowl
The Rose Bowl in Pasadena is one of the most celebrated stadiums in American sports. Built in 1922, the horseshoe-shaped stadium sits in the Arroyo Seco riverbed at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains, giving it one of the most scenic settings of any major venue in the country. Its capacity of 92,542 makes it among the largest in the US, and it was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.
The Rose Bowl has deep Olympic roots — it hosted football at the 1984 Los Angeles Games and was the site of one of the most memorable moments in soccer history, the 1994 FIFA World Cup Final between Brazil and Italy, decided on penalties in front of 94,000 fans. It also staged the 1999 Women's World Cup Final, where Brandi Chastain's iconic penalty secured the US title. For LA28, the stadium has been assigned Diving (using a temporary aquatics facility on the field) and the Football (Soccer) Finals.
The Rose Bowl is currently home to the UCLA Bruins football program and hosts an annual flea market that draws collectors from across Southern California. Pasadena itself is known for the annual Rose Parade on New Year's Day and offers a walkable Old Town district with restaurants and shops just a few miles from the stadium.
Getting here: The Rose Bowl is in a residential canyon — parking and drop-off options are limited. For Olympics events, Metro shuttle services are expected from Pasadena stations. The Gold Line (A Line) stops at Memorial Park Station in Old Town Pasadena, roughly 2 miles from the stadium. Check LA28 official transportation updates closer to the Games.

Transit & Parking
Public transit options
Metro A Line (Gold) — Memorial Park Station in Old Town Pasadena is the closest Metro stop, approximately 2 miles from the stadium. Shuttle services are expected to run during Olympic events. The A Line connects directly to Union Station and DTLA.
Shuttle from Pasadena stations — For major events the Rose Bowl historically runs shuttle services from multiple Pasadena park-and-ride locations. Expect similar arrangements for LA28 — confirm via official LA28 transport planning updates.
Olympics traffic disclaimer: The Rose Bowl's canyon location limits road access significantly. During Football Finals and medal-round Diving sessions, expect major congestion on Rosemont Ave and Seco St. Plan for transit and build in substantial extra time for Gold Medal match days.
