About Santa Anita Park

Santa Anita Park in Arcadia is one of the most picturesque horse racing venues in the world. Opened on Christmas Day 1934, the track sits at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains in the San Gabriel Valley — the mountain backdrop behind the infield grandstand is one of the most iconic images in American thoroughbred racing. The Art Deco grandstand, largely intact from its 1930s original design, is a California Historic Landmark.

The park has hosted the Santa Anita Handicap continuously since 1935 — one of thoroughbred racing's most prestigious events — and famously appeared in the 1949 film Champion and numerous other productions. The track's 1.5-mile main course and vast infield make it well-suited for equestrian disciplines, giving horses and riders ample space across Dressage, Eventing, and Jumping competitions.

For LA28, Santa Anita will host the entire Equestrian program — all three disciplines across 16 sessions, from the opening Dressage rounds through the Jumping Individual Final on July 29. The venue's grandstand can accommodate large crowds, and the San Gabriel Mountain backdrop will make it one of the most photographed venues of the Games.

Getting here: The Metro A Line (Gold) stops at Arcadia Station, approximately 1 mile from Santa Anita Park — a walkable distance or short rideshare. The A Line connects directly to Pasadena, Downtown LA (Union Station), and East LA. The 210 Freeway provides direct road access from most of the San Gabriel Valley.

Transit & Parking

Metro A Line (Gold)

Arcadia Station on the Metro A Line is approximately 1 mile from Santa Anita Park — an easy walk or short rideshare ride. The A Line connects to Pasadena (5 minutes), Downtown LA/Union Station (45 minutes), and the broader Metro network. For fans staying along the Gold Line corridor, this is the ideal transit option.

Driving & parking

Santa Anita has large on-site parking lots accessible from Baldwin Ave and Huntington Dr. The 210 Freeway runs directly past the park at the Baldwin Ave exit. Expect elevated demand on Jumping Final and Dressage Final days.

Olympics traffic disclaimer: The 210 Freeway corridor will see higher-than-usual traffic during LA28. The Arcadia area has good local road capacity, but plan ahead for Finals sessions. The Metro Gold Line is a reliable alternative to avoid parking hassle.
